The Bush Inn - Mowenstow
The Bush Inn is situated near the Church at Morwenstow, right at the heart of Parson Hawker’s old parish, and the hamlet comprises the church and rectory plus the Bush Inn. It is also in a setting that typifies the remote, quiet character of our North Cornwall coastline, dotted with steep-sided valleys. There is free parking by the church and at the you can also park at the Bush Inn, but, understandably, only if you propose to lunch there.
The full walk will be outlined shortly with photographs. This is either a morning walk, returning to the pub, or it could follow lunch.
In summary, the walk comprises the famous Morwenstow church, a short walk to the steep, sheer cliff line, a further short walk to the south to Hawker’s Famous hut - the smallest National Trust property in England, and a further short walk to the south leads you to the Tidna Valley. You will probably be completely on your own. Head up the valley path, which initially involves a steep-sided descent; walk along the valley floor until a path guides you to the left again and up through the fields and to Bush Inn.
This photo shows a drone view of the Bush Inn which shows well its setting with the sea off to the west, the Tidna Valley just below and off the right the coastline itself.
